Korean baseball team going after third gold

Interesting talks have been circling about which nation will rise above the rest in the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games.  Sports enthusiasts and bettors are paying close attention to the Korean baseball team as they are headed to get their third gold medal. As spectators suggest, the team holds a strong potential to win, especially with two of KBO's strongest players on board.

With this year's Asian Games officially underway in Indonesia, many speculations have been swirling as to which team will emerge victorious in which category. But among all the games in the event, many people are especially looking forward to the baseball matches. South Korea championed the last two Asian Games. Many are wondering if they'll also bag the gold this year.

The selection of players for this year's games has been quite challenging for the team. Some of KBO's best players were injured earlier this year, and so the roster has had to be changed quite a few times. But despite the changes, Manager Sun Dong Yol said that the team is as strong as can be.

The team is heavily speculated to grab the top spot, and many believe so too -- especially with Doosan Bears' Yang Eui Ji and Nexen Heroes' Lee Jeong Hoo set to bring their A-game to the matches.

Being one of the best and most experienced player in the team, Yang is expected to lead the pitchers in the game. In fact, he was one of the first few to be selected for the national team.  

After having trained individually, and briefly with the team, he said in an interview that he'll be focusing on the defense at the event. He also said that he is in perfect shape, and has made sure to know his team mates' strengths and weaknessesto put to good use in the games.

Meanwhile, another much younger player who is expected to play in the games is the up-and-coming Nexen Heroes' outfielder, Lee Jeong Hoo. 

After championing the top spot in the league's batting average with .369 (next to Yang's .366),  many are looking forward to Lee's performance in the games.

He is the son of former Kia Tigers' center fielder, Lee Jong Beom. He is one of the most promising young baseball players in KBO, and even won the Rookie of the Year award for 2017.

Third time's a charm
